Is dropping out, getting my GED, and going to college sooner better for me?
First of all, know that this advice is coming from the girl who taught the world that this dirty little secret exists. I had a miserable time in high school, and in the middle of my Junior year I dropped out, got my GED, and now at 17 I’m about to graduate with my AS. At this point in your high school career, it’s much better to stay in. A high school diploma looks much better than a GED. And as long as you’re getting good grades, you’re fine where you are. It’s really hard to start COLLEGE in the middle of the year, whether it’s a state university or a little community college. You also have to keep in mid that the GED test fills fast, and only happens a few times a year, meaning that just because you say you want to take the test now, doesn’t mean that you’ll be able to take it even within the same month.
