It is illegal. However, most companies spend their time taking down people who are sharing TONS of their software with the whole world. They don’t typically bust people who download a thing or two. It’s like drugs, they want to catch the dealers the most. Though, that might change at any moment. A company could decide to invest a great deal of resources into catching individuals with pirated copies. It won’t be general law enforcement that comes after you. It will be you, getting sued, by the company.
