Is doing 3 ten minute workouts the same as doing 1 half hour workout?

When you work out even if it is just weight lifting it is important to increase your heart rate and keep it up. If you are looking to lose weight it is best to do a full 30 min workout. If you think your weight is fine and you are trying to add muscle, I have read contradicting reports. Straining or stretching the muscle and resting it allow it to grow and become bigger. In that theory 3 10 min workouts would be great. However, I have heard that the increased heart rate still plays an important role in building muscle. The important thing is to exercise anyway you can. Any increased activity can help keep you healthier.

NO! The workouts are NOT the same. a 20-30 minute workout is done to work the aerobic energy system and is very good for you. That said 3 ten minute work outs are also good for you and if this is what works for you then stick to it. It will not work the aerobic system as well as the 30mins but it will work it to some extent. It shoudl work your aerobic system to some extent to. Make sure if you do 3 ten minute workouts instead of one 30 minute work out that you use a higher intesity, and push yourself to the maximum. also take on plenty of fluids because anerobic respiration will produce lots more lactic acid due to the incomplete breakdown of glucose.
