Is disney building a theme park in San Antonio Texas?
In a recent article in the San Antonio Express News this quote was printed; “Disney will build a theme park on the moon before they build one in San Antonio,” said Dennis Speigel, president of Cincinnati-based International Theme Park Services Inc. Everytime the Disney Corporation has built a theme park they have built where they had complete control of the market. In San Antonio there are already over 20 million tourist per year visiting other sites. Disney would not control the market here. The rumors have persisted for many years since Disney scouted the city as a possible site, prior to the development of FIesta Texas and Sea World. Also when Gaylord Entertainment/USAA decided to sell Fiesta Texas they offered the property to Disney, and were turned down, before it was sold to Six Flags. Now we have the Disney urban legend, that so many of us hear about. I have even heard it explained in such detail that it made sense. But it just isn’t going to happen.
