Is Disney bad for children?
I think it would be better if you discussed this with your friends so they could tell their own views on it, rather than asking strangers who are just guessing. Some people think that fantasy in general is inappropriate since it portrays creatures that God didn’t create, like fairies, or things that are against nature like talking animals. Also there are dragons that are the symbol of Satan, although dragons are mostly portrayed as evil characters, except for the two-headed talking dragon in The Magic Camelot. In Cinderella, the fairy godmother could be seen as inappropriate since she’s a magical creature who grants wishes while only God should do that through answering prayers. Also there is a dancing scene and some people think dancing is inappropriate since it puts men and women very close to each other, and can be seen as a sort of a foreplay. But personally I don’t think Disney is bad for children, kids just might be scared by some scenes and characters so it’s good to watch movie
They find the mention of magic and spells and such to be a bad influence on children. I feel that to insulate your child from everything you don’t believe, to be a handicap for the child. When the child is exposed to other ideas, they wont know how to react. Disney make wonderful films that teach a lesson in a manor children can relate to. My only criticism is they have many films that deal with death, Bambi loses mother, Old Yeller he is asked to kill his own dog!!, Cinderella father and mother dies, Snow White stepmother wants to kill her.
Yes! Boycott Disney. Preach against Disney. I want to go to Disneyland and preach on the street outside of it AGAINST it. Disney is about magic & murder. Disney corrupts little kids. Disney will make kids grow up to be violent and into magic. You train your kid to be a witch. Even if your little girl wants to be a princess instead, that is still sin. It trains kids to lie. Any actor is a liar. Down with Disney!
I think that Disney is bad for children, but not for the resons you may think. Disney, has become a sad – sincophantic sickly sweet – version of the world, and you would be better off showing your kids the animation of Studio Ghibli, Japanese magic, than the sad formula tripe that Disney now pumps out. Some of the classics are golden however, Bambi is a work of art, and Snow White is pure gold. I teach at a boarding school, and you have 15 7 yr old spending thier first night away from home, – so I put on ‘Finding Nemo’ only to discove that his mother dies within the first 3 minutes of the film… I had to get a box of tissues and a female member of staff (because in this sad age of political correctness, a male member of staff is not allowed to give a student a cuddle, even if the poor little soul is crying her eyes out because her mum has just flow to Afghanistan as a nurse, and she is frightened she is going to die – and NEMO’s mum has just been eaten by a barricuda… sob sob) Hey,
I’ve been Mormon all my life and I pretty much grew up on Disney movies. The bad things that I recognize now went over my head as a kid. I just thought that they were mean and scary. I realize now that a lot of the villains had to do with evil and magic and potions, but I see absolutely no wrong in that. I still watch it (at 21 years old) and when I have kids, I totally intend to them grow up watching it. I won’t watch R rated movies, and I won’t watch scary movies that have to do with evil spirits or the devil… Heck, I don’t even allow Supernatural to be on tv in my house! Disney movies do not even come close to that… I see no harm.
