Is de-sexing a rabbit a common thing?
It is a very common thing. Unfortunately, most vets don’t learn about rabbits in vetrinary school. Despite being the third most popular pet in America they are still considered ‘exotics’. A regular vet will charge an arm and a leg but usualy your local animal shelter or SPCA can point you toward a low cost clinic to get it done. A neutered rabbit will be less territorial, less agressive in general, friendlier (though not like a cat or dog), and have much much better litter box habits than one who is unneutered. Spaying also greatly reduces the risks of uterine cancer in female rabbits. The average lifespan for a bunny is 10 to 12 years and if unspayed a female rabbit is most likely going to get uterin cancer well before then.
