Is Dahomean Vodoun the same as Haitain Vodoun?
No. Dahomean Vodoun is the oldest Vodoun religion in the world (“Old” and “New”). All Vodoun traditions practiced in the New World have their ancient roots in this Mother tradition. Additionally, contrary to popular myth, Haitian immigrants were not responsible for the first presence of “Voodoo” in America. More than 3 million Africans of the Fon, Ewe , Kaye, and Tchamba groups were brought and ensalved in the American South, who have inherited the ashe and powerful ancestral lineages of their ancestors; which are being ceremoniously resurrected in progressive numbers today by us (Mami Wata Healing Society of North America Inc.,).
