Is crepe myrtle related to the biblical myrtle?
The common Crape myrtle, Lagerstroemia indica, and Japanese Crape myrtle, Lagerstroemia faurei are the most common crepe myrtles in the United States. The Crepe Myrtle of the Christian Bible, Myrtus Communus, is the kind found in several passages of the Christian Bible — Neh 8:15, Isa 41:19, Zech, 1:8, etc.
