Is credit checked during final mortgage approval?
If you`ve been pre-approved, you still complete the full application that requires you to list all of your assets/liabilities/job history/wage info etc. The pre-approval generally means a basic one-bureau credit check was in-line with your application. Once they receive your completed loan application and supporting docs (pay stubs, W-2`s, bank statements, tax returns in some cases) they`ll conduct a 3-bureau credit check and take other measures to verify there are no outstanding judgments against you. At this stage, unless something changed in your credit file since the pre-approval, you`re good to go unless something falls through with the underwriting of the property. If you`re aware of something that changed (new car loan for instance, between pre-approval and final approval), just talk to your loan officer so they are not surprised.
