Is CPT and FOB shipping term the same?
CPT means Cost Paid To (name of destination) FOB means Free on Board (name of port) usually CPT is used for road transportation, while FOB is for Sea and Air transportation. Let’s compare CPT London to FOB London. CPT London – the seller is responsible for delivering the goods to a warehouse in London. So if goods die prior arrival at this warehouse the seller will recover them at his costs. FOB London – the seller is responsible for delivering the goods on the board of a ship in London, loading charges also are on seller’s account. So if goods die prior being placed on the ship board the seller will recover them at his costs. I’ve been working as a freight forwarder for 12 years – any additional questions, pls feel free to mail me.
