Is cotton mouth a pregnancy symptom?
If your mouth feels dry (and as long as your OB/GYN clears that it’s not a problem), it’s actually important to go see your dentist! Sounds strange, but xerostomia (dry mouth) can cause tooth decay a HUGE amount….if it’s bad, you can get new decay in several teeth within a few months. So just make sure you get a cleaning during the pregnancy and a fluoride treatment as well so that your mouth stays healthy. If hormones are causing the dry mouth, it should get better after you deliver. Remember, dental problems such as gum disease are linked with preterm delivery, so best to keep every part of your body as healthy as possible! Best of luck with the rest of the pregnancy.
