Is corruption acute in Jammu and Kashmir?
We dont have criminals as ministers. Corruption has been there for the past 50 years. It has been thought as a political weapon. But then, corruption is a national phenomenon. Q: How do you see Pakistans proposal of self-governance in the state? A: As an idea, self-governance is good. But it can have different models. There is a model of European Union and another of American Federalism. In Jammu and Kashmir, there is a model of self-rule under Article 370. There are no details of the proposals made by Pakistan. Unless the details are spelt out, the Government of India may not ask the state government for its response. If the formula of self-governance is aimed at redefining Indias sovereignty on Kashmir, then obviously it is a very serious issue and the Centre will not go around fishing for the opinion of an elected government. We have not been sounded and we do not want to volunteer a comment which relates to Indias sovereignty. It would be better that some of these things are debate
