Is Coober Pedy (Australia) a country town?

0

It is a country town but a rather unusual one. Coober Pedy is situated in the middle of the desert and is very hot. Most of the people who live there live underground in caves that they have dug to escape the heat! There is a lot of opal in Coober Pedy and that is really the only reason that the town exists. Without the opal, the town would likely be just another roadhouse on the Stuart Highway. There are probably more typical towns that you could use for an assignment such as Bathurst or Broken Hill or even Alice Springs.
