Is continuing education required to maintain my state license(s) (under the NMLS)?

Yes. The SAFE Act requires mortgage loan originators to complete eight hours of NMLS approved continuing education annually. However, mortgage loan originators do not need to take continuing education in the calendar year in which their first NMLS state license was granted. As a result of the transition to the NMLS, only some states require inviduals to complete continuing education in 2010. You can view a summary of this information here at the NMLS website.
