Is contemporary serious music played out?

Contemporary music is all over the map. and it doesn’t matter what style it’s in it gets very little traction. Among composers that dabble in Tonality like Mark Adamo, Rorem, Higden etcetera we see music that gets about as much traction as anything by Stockhausen or Ferneyhough. Most orchestras these days have 1 token contemporary concert each season. There is no single trend in classical music today. you have the New Complexity, Spectralism, Minimalism, the last remnants of New York Serialism, European Serialism, World Influences, on top of that the scene in China is radically different than all of these and just as diverse. All of these movements are alive and well, and all headed in drastically different directions.
