Is consumer information available on the various converter boxes being sold?
Consumers Union tested more than 30 boxes being sold nationwide. CU lists prices and evaluates boxes at www.consumerreports.org. Will the converter box make my old TV a high-definition TV. No, your TV’s ability to receive a digital signal does not automatically make it a high-definition TV. Can’t the government just extend the Feb. 17 deadline? That’s what President-elect Barack Obama’s transition team advocated on Thursday, asking Congress to postpone the Feb. 17 switch to all-digital TV. Obama wants additional time for the government to fix the coupon program. Advocacy groups also are pressing Congress to authorize additional funds for the coupon program. There’s no word yet on whether the extension will be granted.
