Is computer repair a recession proof business?

James Morse

I have to disagree with the first answer.  During a recession, people will cut back in any way possible.  Computers are cheap, and even the most basic ones will do plenty for the average user.  The operating systems have improved to the point where not just a tech can set them up, and again, there is an opportunity for someone not to call a tech.  Another thing is that the people who are in the business, will undercut their rates, to get a job in the door.

Recession proof? No, but a recession will make you have to be more competitive.

Yes, since people tend to repair their computers instead of buying new ones to save money.
