Is collective worship compulsory in schools?
Yes, and should happen every day in all schools. Collective worship is different from corporate worship, such as would happen in a place of worship but it must have similar elements. Most acts of collective worship should be of a broadly Christian character, but most schools will use collective worship to introduce pupils to festivals and stories from the main religions. In some circumstances, schools can apply for what is called a determination which means that their collective worship can be different.
