Is cognitive psychology the same as psychoanalysis?

0

Psychoanalysis and cognitive psych are different perspectives of the psychology domain, with differing approaches to different behaviours. Psychodynamics was founded by Freud and his observations of patients, and this is the method still used to examine roots of behaviour. This perspective focuses on behaviour such as hysteria (Freud) and manifestations of repressed memories. By contrast, cognitive psychology takes a more scientific perspective and was originally born from behaviourism – elicit a stimulus and get a response. But the difference is that cognitive psychologists take the individual into account such that we process the stimulus first. So for language, we hear something and it is processed as meaningful words.
