Is COD’s Paralegal program approved by the American Bar Association (ABA)?
No, it is not approved by the ABA at this time, although it has been structured to be consistent with ABA guidelines. COD submitted its application for ABA approval in August, 2008, as soon as it was eligible to do so under the ABA guidelines for approval of paralegal education programs. Q: How long will it be before an approval determination by the ABA is made? A: Because there are many steps to the ABA program approval process, it can take between twelve and eighteen months from the first submission of the application until a determination as to whether approval will be granted. The earliest possible date for ABA approval of COD’s paralegal program is fall of 2010. Q: Does the lack of ABA approval at this time put COD paralegal students at a disadvantage among local employers? A: No, it does not.
