Yes, with a few negative issues. Yes, there is a greater supply of CNG than gasoline. Yes, CNG costs less per equivalent gallon of gasoline. Yes, your car will run on CNG. And yes, CNG is a “Greener” fuel. It does produce less emissions than gasoline. The negatives are mostly due to fuel availability. While CNG is more abundant, delivery is a problem. There are not many publicly available facilities for refueling. Not only does the natural gas need to be supplied to the fueling station, but the fueling station have the ability to compress the gas to 3600 P.S.I. If a plan to build the infrastructure to fuel CNG vehicles were to be put into effect, it will take quite some time.The tanks cannot be filed at home using your normal line pressure. There are “Fuel Makers” that can pressurize your tank over night from a home line, but these are expensive. A typical Fuel Maker is approximately $6000.00.
