Is CMMI High Maturity Worth the Investment?
Many defense contractors and commercial organizations have adopted the Capability Maturity Model Integrated (CMMI). Published results at Levels 2 and 3 show improved cost and schedule performance, and higher quality delivered products. But the perception exists that high maturity is expensive and of little benefit. Do high maturity processes cost more? Is Level 4 and 5 worth the effort? This presentation will explore the issues, by examining the fundamental principles behind high maturity. Costs and benefits will be emphasized. Techniques for ensuring the promised benefits are received will be highlighted.
