Is closed-cell foam so rigid that it cracks?

0

Our closed cell foam has stayed in place for over 40 years plus in homes. We have a flexural modulus which tolerates movement to a degree. The only stud/foam cracks occur with closed cell foam is when the application is not properly done or it is too cold for the particular foam being used, items that trained professionals are aware of how to handle. The cracks will be immediate or overnight. The cracks may occur as the hot applied foam cools down and when it is very cold outside. They are easily repaired with one component foam before covering. Once the application is completed the rigid foam bonds all the construction materials together in a well adhered composite construction. Closed cell polyurethane foams make excellent adhesive materials because of their strength.
