Is circuit training (3x/week) or focus training (3x/week) better for fat loss?

In my opinion, circuit training is good for overall physical fitness by combining aerobic and strength training in a single session. I don’t think it is as effective as focus weight training in reducing body fat. In order to lose body fat, one has to gain lean muscle mass. That is because lean muscle burns calories much more efficiently than fat. The more calories that is burnt, the less there is to convert to fat. I would work out at least 4 to 5 times a week. Each day I would focus on one or two muscle groups, and do 3 or 4 sets of 5 to 12 repetitions. Some weeks I would max out, some weeks I don’t. I would need to vary the way I perform those exercises every now and then. Switching between free weights and machines is one way. Varying the positions whereby those exercies are performed is another. A physical trainer would go a long way, if you can afford one.
