Yes it can be profitable, however it is allot of work, and you have to buy the trees to get started. I thought of starting a Christmas Tree farm when I first moved to my 17 acres near Cheney Wa. So I did some research and actually sent emails to other Christmas Tree farms I found online. You have to consider many things, and in fact you should consider doing a business plan on any type of business you’re interested in starting. You’ll need to find a place that sells the seedlings. You’ll need to grow them for about 2 to 5 years before you start selling them. You have to protect them, prune them, stake them and bundle them up before a heavy snow, and water them on the hot summer days. You need to buy some from another farm to sell while you’re growing your trees. You have to purchase items like hand saws, frost machine, wrapping system (which i understand you can build out of a 55 gallon drum), and build a stand where people will pay you.
