Is Christianity inherently pacifist?

0

Despite what some like to suggest Hitler was a member of the fascist party. The 4 foundations of Fascism were anti-Semitism, Ant-Communism, Anti-liberalism, and anti-Christianism. Have some Christians done some rotten stuff through out history. No doubt. But no group remains unscathed to the balanced mind. There are some grey areas though. I don’t beliee defense of others is the same as being inherently violent.

Jesus was a pacifist – Christians are not necessarily so which always strikes me as odd and they canb always justify what they are doing even though it is patently unChristian.

Christianity is not an inherently pacifist religion. There is too much blood on the hands of the church for that to be the case. However, many individual Christians are pacifists and these are the ones Jesus would be proud of, considering he was a pacifist himself, practicing non-violent passive resistance right to the end.

The practice is very different from the manifesto. Remember Bush and Blair are genuine, church going, paid up Christians. This is what turns most people away from Christianity. The hypocrisy.

Yes of course it is – a reading of the New Testament should leave no doubt about that. Unfortunately, many people who claim to be Christians appear not to have read it at all! And this, for some people, gives Christianity a bad name. Nicevolve – yes, I have read the Old Testament, but that is pre-Christian. To learn about Christianity you need to read the New Testament.
