Is chlorine a gas or a liquid?
Chlorine liquid boils at -34°C and is therefore a gas at STP. It appears that we have an extremely knowledgeable thumbs downer who doesn’t want to share his wisdom…Please tell us all the answer Mr. Thumbs Downer…!! (Edit: Having worked in the production of Chlorine GAS and Sodium Hydroxide + Hydrogen, by the Electrolysis of Brine using Flowing Mercury bed Cathodes and Graphite grid Anodes, the gaseous Chlorine evolved at the Anodes was first dried using Sulphuric acid, then compressed and refrigerated to Liquid chlorine at -40°C for storage and transportation.). (Further explanation of the process is available by e-mail).
