Is chivalry another form of sexism?

0

Sexism is the idea that one gender is superior to the other due to their differences. Chivalry is an act of politeness which isn’t equally applicable to both genders, obviously, because the man is the one performing the act of chivalry. However, this is not because the man feels superior, rather it is essentially a tradition born a long time ago which we continue applying today. If it was sexism just because there is a clear difference in the roles of each gender, then you could just as easily call the difference in male and female clothing sexist, or the fact that we sue different washrooms sexist.
