Is Chinese Food Fat Food?

1

Not all Chinese food is fat food – but what you have chosen for a meal is. For example – Panda Express offers Orange Chicken, and a 5 ounce serving (they actually serve up more than that, but that is what their nutrition serving size is) is 400 calories. 170 of those calories come from fat – that is 42% of the calories are coming from fat. Current guidelines for people not losing weight is that they consume 30% of their calories from fat over the day – so this may put you a bit over. The broccoli if steamed, is a good choice – no fat in that. But the garlic sauce probably has a lot of oil in it. If it coats the broccoli – then it has oil and sugar added to it. White rice is fine – as long as you don’t put soy sauce on it, soy sauce has a ton of sodium in it. If you were eating at Panda Express – they have better choices – like the Mushroom Chicken, a larger 6 ounce portion is only 180 calories.
