Is chinese food considered fast food, also what is the healthy level compared to burger joints?
A lot depends on the outlet from which one buys one’s Chinese food – especially on the oils that they use. If the outlet cooks to order, then Chinese food is relatively low in fat, although they do have a liking for monosodiumglutamate ( MSG) – a salt that some nutritionists find dodgy. Chinese food can be considered fast food on the basis that it is cooked quickly – this is due to their predelicition for cooking small items of food – noodles, very finely cut or chopped beef, pork, duck etc, at a very high temperature in a very short time. This is a very healthy way of cooking – the meats etc do not have the time to absorb the oil as they can literally be in and out of the wok in less than a minute, and the high temperature in which the foods are cooked will kill most bacteria and spores thereof instanter. Compare this to some of the Western outlets such as McDonbuggerkfc, where the burgers, clucking birds etc are prepared off site, shipped to the outlet, finished off and then kept war
