Is China Blocking Google to Censor Information About the Iranian Protests?

0

The Chinese government has blocked access to Google in that country. In discussing the block a spokesman for the government said that Google contains a great deal of pornographic material that it wants to keep from its citizens. Everyone knows that China’s real goal here is to keep people from finding information about topics the government finds offensive–like democracy and human rights. As I read about this technological crackdown I found myself wondering if China is trying to keep its people from learning about the protests in Iran; maybe, the government fears that some of its citizens could be encouraged to rise up against it if they learn too much about what is happening in Iran.
