Is Child Hospitalization a Teachable Moment for Parents who Smoke?

Smoking caregivers of hospitalized children will be recruited and randomized to the intervention or control group; the intervention group will include brief smoking cessation counseling and referral to the state’s Quitline. • Investigating the Link between Secondhand Tobacco Smoke and Inflammation in Children with Asthma: Emily Weis, MD; University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, Rochester, NY The goal of this study is to determine the association between asthma and markers of inflammation in both blood and nasal secretions of 2 year old children exposed to secondhand smoke.
