Is cell count or biomass important?

0

It is easy to have a high cell count if you have a lot of small cells or if the algae has been processed, concentrated via centrifuge or settled. Biomass is the weight of bio-material per unit volume. It is quite possible to have a low cell count with a high biomass number. This would mean that there are larger cells in the mix (with potentially greater nutritional impact).
