1) Stocks of products held by the manufacturer are not placed on the market therefore if they are placed on the marketafter 29th May 2002 they will have to meet the requirements of the PED. 2) Stocks of non-CE marked products held by a stockist or distributor are considered to be placed on the market and can be sold to a user after 29th May 2002. There could be a problem selling to an assembly manufacturer who intends to supply the assembly CE marked, in such cases all parts of the assembly have to meet the requirements of the PED. See WPG 3/11. 3) A CE mark could be retrospectively attached to a stock product provided the manufacturer can ensure that it meets all the requirements of the PED.
