Is catch and release acceptable while fishing with Alaskan Fish Guides?
Catch and release is always acceptable. Only take home what your going to eat and enjoy. Catching the fish and watching it swim away is a very enjoyable experience. We encourage catch and release of any halibut larger than 150 pounds; because the largest halibut are female and lay the eggs that keep our business thriving. The other reason is the halibut meat at that size is not as tasty compared to a 50 pound halibut.
