Is cardio the best exercise to burn fat?
Until some years ago, cardio was regarded as the ‘holy grail’ of fat-burning exercise. However, nowadays, most prominent trainers are moving away from the traditional way of doing slow, steady cardio and implementing higher intensity weight-training circuits and interval-type cardio sessions for more effective results. Some go as far as saying that slow cardio is a waste of time. While we don’t entirely share this opinion, we do preach the benefits of doing higher intensity training for better fat-burning results. The level of intensity applied must of course be geared towards each specific individual, taking into account their fitness level, their athletic ability and potential cardiovascular risk factors.
