Is Canadian accent different from American accent?
Yes, quite. Of course, there are gazillions of American accents, and only some Canadian (cause there are so many fewer people and population centers). To a large extent, people in the northern parts of the US, and Southern Canada have very similar accents. And they change as one travels from East to West. No Canadian naturally talks like someone from, say, Atlanta or Texas, though I have heard some actors attempt it…badly, usually. Torontoans sound like they have a little Scottish in them. People in Seskatchewan sound very like people from Minnesota/North Dakota. I can always tell in a moment when the guys commentating hockey (my husband’s favorite sport) are Canadian…from the other room. Just from how they say “About” or “out”…it’s that Scottish influence.
