Is camping allowed in Central Park?

No, there’s only camping during supervised camping events. I wouldn’t be surprised that if you were caught, you’d be ticketed for disorderly conduct. NYC has a whole bunch of “Quality of Life” offenses that are subject to fines. For example, my son & a friend were sitting on the stoop of his apartment building (not on the sidewalk), drinking a beer. They were ticketed & fined $30 for drinking in public & it didn’t matter that they weren’t actually on the street.

Lol, no way! If camping was allowed in Central Park there would be a couple thousand people living there all the time! I would not even try it, if the cops don’t catch you someone else will. It’s not really safe to be in the park overnight.

No; there is a 1pm curfew. If you are camping in any traditional sense of the word, you are likely to be found and hassled by police; if you were well hidden under a bush, maybe not.

I wouldn’t worry about cops. I’d worry about muggers and drug addicts who will slice your throat for the $3 you have in your pocket. “Camping” is called “homelessness” in Central Park.
