Is Cameco working to reduce the amount of emissions from its Port Hope facilities?
Cameco is committed to continual improvement in its environmental performance and this includes reducing emissions. Most emissions from the Port Hope conversion facility have been greatly reduced in recent years. Uranium and fluoride emissions from the UF6 stack have been reduced by over 50% since 1998. Emissions from the UO2 plant have also been significantly reduced since 1999, with uranium down by over 60%.
