Is Cameco willing to move the conversion facility from its current location?
Cameco has no plans to move from its current location. The company is committed to the community as well as its employees, many of whom live in the Municipality of Port Hope. Our commitment is demonstrated by our multimillion-dollar Vision 2010 project to renew, clean up and modernize the conversion facility. Cameco provides an important service in processing uranium products for electricity generators producing clean electricity both here in Ontario and around the world. Half of the electricity generated in Ontario uses uranium products processed in Port Hope. The facility has operated safely for many years at its current location.
