Is California legalizing marijuana for the wrong reason.. money, so why not prostitution and gambling?
Considering the amount of money spent to pursue something folks want anyways. And what with the budgetary shortfalls, it only makes sense to instead of spending money needed elsewhere to deny access to that which folks have constant access despite, to simply focus law enforcement on that which can be applied- like crimes where there is a victim.
California has developed an identity of being the home of the classic Hippy. Marijuana, unlike prostitution or gambling, has very little stigma of being connected with drug lords, pimps, corporations or government. By many people it is viewed as a way to feel good and be happy with out feeding “The Man”. It’s easy to grow, cheap to refine and has little evidence connecting it as a major cause of any illness. It is also not physically addictive. I hope that clears it up.
