Cable is substantially better than satellite Internet. Cable download and upload speeds are much faster than satellite speeds. For uploading (eg: sending email, uploading data, etc) satellite is actually really quite slow, and only a few times faster than dial up. Satellite connections can also be disrupted by bad weather such as rain, snow, and fog. Satellite companies also will limit your connection speed if you are using too much bandwidth. For example, if you are downloading movies or other large amounts of content, your satellite company will slow down your connection for a couple of hours. They have to do this since this is a shared connection, and heavy usage by a single user will take away speed from other users.
