Is buying an adult or mature Cairn Terrier a good idea?
One good place to start is with a Cairn Rescue Network, similar to those established for many breeds. There are Cairns that need a good home, but for one reason or another have not had one. Check with a veterinarian or a breeder in your area as well. They are often aware of wonderful dogs that need only a good home and good care. There may be some special factors to deal with when bringing a grown dog into any home.
