Is bringing back Peter Mandelson to the government a excellent idea, or an act desperate man?

I’m more with the analysis of the political commentators. This is about a short term fix at reducing his critics. Even the most anti Brown/ New labour soles know that a divided party will lose the next election. This now stops the far left of the party from mounting a serious challenge by teaming up with the Blairite faction to do for Brown. It will steady the ship for labour and will allow them some chance at clawing back the Tory lead in the polls. It is a big gamble though because twinkle toes Mandelson has a penchant for gaffes in his private life which embarrass the government. Labour is only a bit away from being utterly unelectable in the eyes of the public. One more major scandal and it really will be all over, then not even Nelson Mandela could make labour electable.
