Is “Brewers yeast” and “Beer yeast” both the same stuff or are they different?

Brewers yeast is usually the processed leftovers of beer yeast from a brewery. It is sold in most health food shops as a vitamin supplement. However, it has been pasteurized and is completely inactive, so it can not be used for brewing. Now if you just hear brewers yeast and beer yeast term used for making beer, then its just generic terms that refer to the type of yeast you should use, and both mean the same thing. They can be bought at homebrew stores, and they are different as far as brewing characteristics and flavors given, as opposed to wine yeast or bread/bakers yeast. You can make beer with each kind of yeast, just brewers/beer yeast will give you the best results and taste.
