Is breast milk always best, or are its benefits over hyped?
Benefits are overhyped for the most part. *** Breast milk “FACTS”: Breast milk is great and everything (and even essential) for the first few fragile months of a child’s life, but there are a lot of things breast milk simply can not do: Breastmilk can’t prevent a fatal car accident from happening. Breastmilk can’t guarantee that the child will grow up to not smoke, not drink, or not do drugs. Breastmilk can’t stop a child in their teens from choosing a chicken salad with vinaigrette dressing over a double cheeseburger with fries. Breastmilk can’t ‘force’ a child to lead an active lifestyle, instead of spending it in front of a TV playing a video game while gaining weight. Breastmilk can’t magically stop an allergen from messing with your respiratory system. (I was breastfed AND have allergies. Go figure.) Breastmilk can’t all of a sudden ‘wish away’ any genetic diseases you are prone to due to your DNA. Breastmilk can’t stop a girl from having unprotected sex with someone infected with
