Is breast feeding horrible?
It really depends on the baby. With my first, my baby was born early and was never really able to get the whole latching-on thing. Milk would dribble out of his mouth during the whole feeding, he was always soaked after nursing. I had very sore nipples because he wasn’t latching on properly. I probably should have gone to formula, but I was just so determined to make it work. I also didn’t have enough milk, probably also due to his poor latch-on, and he didn’t thrive on my breastmilk. I nursed him for 9 months, and it was very difficult the whole time. With my second, she took to it like a champ, from right after she was born. I nursed her for a year, and only stopped then because she started biting. I had some little blisters on my nipples at first, but they weren’t painful. I had very little pain and very few problems with nursing with her. She got plenty to eat and went from the 45th percentile to the 95th percentile within the first month.
