Tony “Macaroni” C. says: There’s a debate around whether the Portuguese and Brazilian cultures are considered Hispanic. Certain dictionaries label Portugal as a Hispanic culture. Portugal shares the Iberian Peninsula with Spain. The peninsula is also known as Hispaniola. As a Portuguese-American I don’t consider myself as “white”. And I’ve been mistaken for being Mexican, Argentine and Brazilian. I hope I haven’t confused any one. According to that reliable source Wikipedia, Brazilians are considered Latins. Does it really matter? Unless you’re trying to check the box that will better your chances of being considered for employment.
