Is Bottled Water Cleaner?
The truth is that the cleanliness of bottled water is only as good as its source. The fear and potential problem that exists with purchasing bottled water is that some companies basically use tap water to fill their plastic bottles. It is very important to check which companies are using “better” water than what you would find in your tap. For example, Aquafina (owned by Pepsi) faced trouble a few years ago for selling tap water in their creatively designed bottles. They now have to use the label “P.W.S.” (public water source) on the back of their bottles to let customers know the water came from tap – all they are really doing is distributing it to us in a convenient container. Dasani is another bottled water company that uses water from tap. On their website, it says Dasani water comes from “local water supplies”, is filtered using a process called reverse osmosis and enhanced with minerals.
