Is Bosnia dangerous? Are there any mines left?
In December 1995, the war was over. International EU troupes (EUFOR) ensure security, criminality level in Bosnia is low in comparison to European standard. Around the hotel (50 km in radius), there is no danger from mines. Outside this area, tourists should stay on the road and streets, respectively rely on a guide that knows the area. National parks and nature reserves are generally clean from mines and mine areas are earmarked accordingly. No foreign visitor to Bosnia and Herzegovina has ever been injured by a mine. If you stick to the afore-mentioned rules, there is no danger.
